Continuing with the process of feminist transformation, we extend the protocol to also address colonial violence from an intersectional perspective
SCI Catalunya has had a protocol to address sexist and LGTBIQ-phobic aggressions since 2021. However, the protocol is a living tool that must be worked on and expanded. In 2023 we expanded it to include all areas of the entity. This year, continuing with the process of feminist transformation, we have continued to work to expand the protocol so that it also addresses colonial violence from an intersectional perspective. We have done so with the support of the Espai La Tregua and the support of the Department of Equality and Feminism of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Here you can consult the intersectional protocol for the prevention and approach of colonial and patriarchal violence.
This extension includes a diagnosis of the entity with an anti-racist perspective and an analysis of structural violence taking into account the coloniality of power, knowledge, being and gender as well as Eurocentrism, intersectionality and the various systems of oppression. In addition, it incorporates definitions of the concepts of privilege, white fragility and white supremacism.
We are aware that we live in a patriarchal, colonial and heteronormative society and that, therefore, our entity and the people who are part of it do not get rid of this context. It is from this awareness that we want to recognize the existence of these situations of violence, take responsibility and address them through this protocol. This is a political commitment to making our entity a safe space for all people.
