El dilluns 15 d’octubre, des de l’SCI vam donar suport al manifest consensuat amb les entitats de la societat civil catalana, per clamar les llibertats, davant de la sentència, així com també vam participar a l’acte que es va celebrar a la Plaça Sant Jaume i ens sumem a les mobilitzacions per la defensa dels drets fonamentals.

MANIFEST

Avui 14 d’octubre hem conegut la sentència del Tribunal Suprem del judici als líders de la societat civil i representants polítics. Una sentència que condemna a:

Oriol Junqueras per sedició i malversació, a 13 anys de presó
Jordi Turull per sedició i malversació, a 12 anys de presó
Raül Romeva per sedició i malversació, a 12 anys de presó
Dolors Bassa per sedició i malversació, a 12 anys de presó
Carme Forcadell per sedició, a 11 anys i 6 mesos de presó
Quim Forn per sedició, a 10 anys i 6 mesos de presó
Josep Rull per sedició, a 10 anys i 6 mesos de presó
Jordi Sànchez per sedició, a 9 anys de presó
Jordi Cuixart per sedició, a 9 anys de presó
Meritxell Borràs per desobediència, a 60.000 € de multa
Carles Mundó per desobediència, a 60.000 € de multa
Santi Vila per desobediència, a 60.000 € de multa

Les entitats socials sotasignades, representants de diferents sectors del nostre país i compromeses amb els valors de la pau i el diàleg com a principis indestriables de tota societat democràtica,

MANIFESTEM:

PRIMER:

Entenem que aquesta sentència significa la culminació d’un procés de judicialització de la política, punt al qual mai no s’hauria d’haver arribat.

SEGON:

• Manifestem el nostre desacord amb la sentència, que no resol el conflicte polític, i denunciem la injustícia a la qual s’enfronten totes les persones condemnades.
• Denunciem les conseqüències greus que aquesta sentència té sobre els drets polítics de la ciutadania i els drets de manifestació, d’expressió, de lliure associació i de dissidència política, suposant un retrocés per a la qualitat democràtica de la nostra societat.
• Denunciem les greus conseqüències que la sentència té per a la normalitat política a Catalunya i els seus efectes per a l’autogovern de la Generalitat.

TERCER:

• Treballarem per la llibertat de les persones condemnades des d’amplis espais de consens socials i polítics a Catalunya i Espanya.
• Fem una crida als partits polítics i a institucions públiques per trobar el camí de la política posant fi a la judicialització d’un conflicte polític.
• Fem una crida a la ciutadania a participar a les mobilitzacions de tots els espais compartits que contribueixen a reforçar la cohesió i la convivència des de la fermesa en les reivindicacions dels drets democràtics i les llibertats.

The Catalan civil society rejects the spanish court’s sentence 

On Monday, October 14, the ruling of the Spanish trial for the social leaders and politicians related to the referendum for catalan independence has been published. In response, SCI Catalonia – together with more than 150 other organizations – has signed a statement rejecting the sentence where we report “the serious consequences that this has on the political rights of the catalan citizens and their demonstration rights, expression, free association and political dissidence, supposing a retreat for the democratic quality of our society. ”

Statement  

A CLAIM FOR FREEDOM AS A SPACE OF CONSENSUS 

Today, October 14, we have heard the ruling of the Supreme Court of the trial for the leaders of civil society and political representatives accused of organizing the referendum for catalan independence two years ago. 

The sentence condemns as following: 

Oriol Junqueras for sedition and embezzlement, 13 years in prison

Jordi Turull for sedition and embezzlement, 12 years in prison

Raül Romeva for sedition and embezzlement, 12 years in prison

Dolores Bassa due to sedition and embezzlement, 12 years in prison

Carme Forcadell for sedition, 11 years and 6 months in prison

Joaquim Forn for sedition, 10 years and 6 months in prison

Josep Rull for sedition, 10 years and 6 months in prison

Jordi Sànchez for sedition, 9 years in prison

Jordi Cuixart for sedition, 9 years in prison

Meritxell Borràs for disobedience, at € 60,000 fine

Carles Mundó for disobedience, at € 60,000 fine

Santi Vila for disobedience, at € 60,000 fine 

The undersigned social entities, representatives of different sectors of our country and committed to the values ​​of peace and dialogue as inseparable principles of any democratic society, 

STATE  

FIRST:  

We understand that this sentence means the culmination of a process of  judicialization of the politics, that we wish have never happened.  

SECOND: 

We express our disagreement with the ruling of the sentence, which does not resolve the political conflict, and we denounce the injustice faced by all the people condemned. 

We denounce the serious consequences that this ruling has on the political rights of the citizens and the rights of manifestation, expression, free association and political dissidence, supposing a retreat to the democratic quality of our society.

 We denounce the serious consequences that the ruling has for political normality in Catalonia and its effects on self-government of the Generalitat de Catalunya. 

THIRD: 

We will work for the freedom of the condemned people from wide spaces of social and political consensus in Catalonia and Spain.

We appeal to political parties and public institutions to find the way of politics by ending the judicialization of a political conflict. 

We encourage the citizens to participate in the mobilizations of all shared spaces that contribute to strengthening cohesion and coexistence and are based in the demands of democratic rights and freedoms.
