SCI Italia is offering a volunteer position as Placement Officer in their office in Rome, from November 2024 to September 2025, funded through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC)

Description
This project is suitable for someone who is interested in both grassroots political activism, specifically related to local and international volunteering, active citizenship, social inclusion, and non-formal education for youth and adults. It is for someone who would like to improve their professional skills in social projects, group management, activity organisation and someone who is flexible and can easily adapt to different contexts. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Project language: English, Italian Local language: Italian Pocket money: 350 € Travel costs: covered according to ESC funding rules, 309€ as maximum reimbursement (return tickets) – for green travels (no airplanes!) the maximum is 417€. Visa cost: covered up to 100€ Lodging In a separate flat in “La Città dell’Utopia”, with 3 shared double rooms (up to six international volunteers) kitchen, living room, and bathroom. The accommodation has all the basic facilities (Wi-Fi and washing machine included). It’s an historical building, so the accommodation is basic.

Training during the activity
The daily program consists of 6 hours 5 days a week. There will be 2 consecutive free days/ week and 2 days of holiday for each month. To facilitate the participation of a high number of volunteers, some activities will take place during the weekend. In these cases, the number of working hours done by the volunteer will be adjusted for the following weeks, by reducing working hour’s amount or taking days off so that the total number of working hours per week does not exceed 35h.

Participant profile
We are looking for volunteers who: Have good command of English Have good command of Italian (asset) Be able to work in a team Have good communication skills and motivation to cooperate with colleagues and SCI Italia’s activists Have good educational and social skills, to be able to work with several target groups motivated to learn and share knowledge and skills Have good computer skills (Ubuntu or Microsoft Office, email, internet) Have a responsible attitude and take initiative towards their tasks Have administrative and organisational skills, have an open mind and flexible attitude towards working hours, especially between May-July Have a good level of adaptability to basic living and working conditions
