Archives Seminari 8-13 October 2018: Call for Participants

Content:
At the beginning, an introduction into basics of SCI history will be given, and each participant will choose one or more topics for her / his research. The rest of the week will be devoted to a thorough check through the material available in the Archives, according to the topics chosen by the participants. Material may be photographed / scanned for further lecture after the Seminar. The Town Library has reserved a room in which 6 to 8 people can work with Archives documents.

Heinz Gabathuler and Philipp Rodriguez, the current and the former Archives co-ordinator respectively, will be co-ordinating the Seminar.

Participants:
The target group are experienced SCI activists from different generations and regional background who are interested in SCI history and who have some knowledge, experience, and / or affinity in social sciences or humanities. No academic background is required, though. Participants should be able to work autonomously with texts. They should have good English working skills and be able to write texts in English, whereas passive knowledge of other languages, namely French, German (Dutch, Italian, …), is an asset.

Participants should commit themselves to write one or more texts for the publication, based on their research during and after the Archives Seminar. Participants are expected to arrive on October 8 before noon and to stay for the whole week.

Financial conditions:
We are planning to rent a flat (e.g. through Airbnb) and to have additional accommodation with private hosts. Costs for food and accommodation are likely to be covered by SCI International Archves and additional fundraising. Travel costs should be borne by the participants themselves, as is the rule for workcamps; upon request, contributions may be granted to individual participants. No participation fee is being asked from participants.
