ARQUEOLOGIA A L’ILLA, aquest és el nom del camp de voluntariat que tindrà lloc a Son Servera les properes setmanes. Els voluntaris i voluntàries participaran en una intervenció arqueològica amb l'objectiu d'utilitzar l'arqueologia i la història local per preservar i promoure el patrimoni històric i cultural. El treball consisteix en la valoració d'un jaciment arqueològic mitjançant les tasques de neteja de les restes i la rehabilitació de l'accés al lloc. Tot el treball es farà sota la supervisió d'arqueòlegs qualificats.

Description: Volunteers will participate in an archaeological dig which forms part of a wider project aiming to use archaeology and local history to preserve and promote heritage and culture to the local community and to international volunteers.

Type of Work: Work involves excavating an archaeological dig site, cleaning the ruins, facilitating access to the site by clearing land and making paths (by moving rocks, cutting bushes, etc). All work will be done under the supervision of qualified archaeologists.

Study Theme: Archaeological heritage and how it brings communities together. Several educational and cultural activities will be held.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in a reformed monastery in triple and double rooms with good modern facilities. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Food will be provided by local hotels and volunteers will prepare their own breakfast with food provided. Special diets can be accommodated.

Language: English, Spanish, Catalan

Requirements: Sleeping bags. No archaeological experience is required, but any prior knowledge is welcome. Please be aware a good level of fitness is necessary as the camp involves heavy physical work.

Approximate Location: Mallorca Island

Notes: The local organization makes a big effort to make volunteers involved on the local culture, so there are several activities planned with that goal: cultural tours, visits to natural sites, participation on village festivals, intercultural meals with the residents, outdoors film projection, etc.
