Green School Village (GSV) is excited to be offering 2 people the opportunity to volunteer at the Balkan Ecology Project (BALKEP) under this initiative. This 6 month project is open to 2 enthusiastic young people aged between 18 – 30 who are interested in developing food growing systems that enhance biodiversity, and want to take part in community building activities.
What will you be doing?
– You’ll be actively involved in the exciting new development of perennial polyculture gardens at BALKEP, taking part in the research trials and gaining free access to all the courses scheduled at BALKEP during your stay
– You will be spending time each week showing solidarity with the local community by helping to create a community garden, assisting the mayor’s team with developing a rest zone by a river walk, maintaining a useful irrigation system that the community rely on and also the local mountain trails
– You will keep a journal and write a blog about your progress, tracking your volunteering experience
– Activities take place Monday – Friday for 6 hours a day, leaving plenty of free time to immerse yourself into the local culture. Included in the experience are Bulgarian language lessons
