Haltegriff – assisting youth in their work and life skills training
Haltegriff, in Kapfenberg, Austria, offers living and work training for young people with NEET-status (Not in Education, Employment or Training) aged 16 to 21, who for various reasons can`t live at home. “Haltegriff” aims at encouraging young people regarding a long-term professional and personal independence. Emphasis is on knowledge transfer concerning skills that help stabilizing the young persons and thus, preparing them for a long-term integration into the labour market. Volunteer will assist work training team in trainings and workshops, meetings with employers, and support housing team in daily activities, such as cooking, sepnding time with youngsters, help them learn, keep tidiness.

Volunteer at Children’s village
The Children’s Village, in Thal bei Graz, Austria, is a youth welfare institution who cares for children and youngsters as a legal guardian. They take care of around 40 children and young people from 7 to 18 years who cannot live in their original family. Due to unfavourable socialization conditions, they are disadvantaged in many fields and are in need of support. ESC volunteers are hosted in different houses and assist the staff in daily activities: meeting children after school, cooking, learning, doing house chores, playing and spending free time and so on. Also, they accompany children in excursions or when needed and organise activities for kids. Volunteers learn about Austrian social welfare system, improve their social skills, get an insight into social work, educational and therapy methods.
